In 2006 the legendary American automobile manufacturer Ford introduced a new series of mid-sized crossover SUV (CUV), called "Edge". Ford Edge has a 5-door body style and was manufactured in two generations.
The first generation (2006–2014) was built on the Ford CD3 platform. The first Edge models came with 6-speed 6F50 automatic transmission and three engine options – 2.0 L EcoBoost I4 (turbocharged gasoline), 3.5 L Duratec V6 (gasoline) and 3.7 L Duratec V6 (gasoline). This generation included four trim levels – SE, SEL, Limited and Sport. In 2011 the exterior was improved and new engine options were provided.
In 2015 the second generation was launched. It was built on the new Ford CD4 platform and came with significant exterior and interior modifications. This final generation features 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and four engine options – 2.0 L EcoBoost I4 (turbocharged gasoline), 2.0L Duratorq I4 (Turbo-Diesel), 2.7 L EcoBoost V6 (turbocharged gasoline) and 3.5 L Duratec V6 (gasoline). The new Ford Edge is also available with a variety of useful safety features.
