In 2008, the American Automobile manufacturer Dodge introduced the first "Journey". The Dodge Journey is a line-up of mid-sized Crossover SUVs with a five-door body style. The Journey offers seating for 5 or 7 (5 + 2) passengers and is built on the Chrysler JC platform. The first Dodge Journey Vehicles came with four-cylinder engines as more engine options became available later. In 2011, the Dodge Journey was updated with some adjustments in the grille, lower front fascia, and the interior. In addition, the suspension, steering, and powertrain were also upgraded.
In the period of 2008 to 2010, five trim levels were offered on the North American market: the SE with 2.4L 173 hp (129 kW) I4 engine, the SXT with 3.5L 235 hp (175 kW) V6 engine, the SXT AWD with 3.5L 235 hp (175 kW) V6 engine, the R/T with 3.5L 235 hp (175 kW) V6 engine, and the R/T AWD with 3.5L 235 hp (175 kW) V6 engine. These Journey models were available with a variety of features like an aluminum hood, composite plastic tailgate, high-strength steel construction, rear climate control vents, and extra power outlets.
In 2011, a rebadged version of the Journey was released, called "Fiat Freemont". The Freemont features modified suspension tuning and comes with some cosmetics adjustments in both front and rear bumpers. The Fiat Freemont is also available with two front-wheel-drive turbo-diesel engine options.
