Since its birth, the G-Series came in four generations. The Infiniti G37 became part of the fourth generation. The G37 was introduced in 2007 as a 2008 model car and was designed as a replacement for the Infiniti G35. The first G37 utilized the new Nissan VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) system. The 2008 G37 was also provided with the new V6 VQ37VHR engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission.
The Infiniti G37 Sedan was launched in 2009 and was available with Infiniti's innovative seven-speed automatic transmission. This model also came with wider sport brakes and a new sport wheel design. In 2009, a new model, the G37 Convertible was presented.
