In 1997, Lexus, the luxury vehicle division of the famous Japanese automaker Toyota, introduced a new line of mid-size luxury crossover SUVs called the RX. The Lexus RX features a 5-door wagon body style and a front-wheel or four-wheel layout. In its lifespan, the RX series was manufactured in four generations.
The Lexus RX 350 appeared for the first time in the second generation of the RX Series (2003–2008). It featured a 106.9-inch wheelbase and was based on the Toyota’s K platform. Three engine options were available in this generation – a 3.0L 1MZ-FE V6, 3.3L 3MZ-FE V6, and a 3.5L 2GR-FE V6 engine. There were also two types of transmission: 1-speed CVT and 5-speed automatic transmission. In 2012, the RX 350 model was further upgraded with some exterior modifications.
Lexus has launched the fourth generation of the RX Series in 2015. This new generation is larger and features a 109.8-inch wheelbase. The new Lexus RX models also come with an 8-speed automatic transmission and three engine options: a 2.0L 8AR-FTS I4 turbocharged gasoline, 3.5L 2GR-FKS V6 gasoline, and 3.5L 2GR-FXS V6 hybrid gasoline engine.
